When anyone hears the words “Las Vegas” their mind immediately goes to one image: The Strip. That long stretch of road called Las Vegas Boulevard that is lined with flashing lights, mega hotels, and casinos.

Now, there is no doubt that The Strip is the biggest draw to Las Vegas. It’s where you can see incredible shows and musical performances, eat at the restaurants of some of the best chefs in the world, and partake in (just a little bit of) gambling.

However, what you might not realize is that Las Vegas is not just The Strip. In fact, it’s a thriving city that has quite a bit going on not only inside the city limits but also within a really quick drive. So if you want to see Las Vegas beyond The Strip, keep reading…

Red Rock Canyon

Red Rock Canyon NCA
The last thing most people think of when going to Las Vegas is hitting up nature. But only 17 miles away from the hustle and bustle of The Strip, you’ll find the beautiful Red Rock Canyon. In this National Conservation Area you can go hiking and bouldering, enjoy a Jeep tour, or just drive yourself through the center of the park.

The Stratosphere

The Stratosphere
Head to the very far end of The Strip and you’ll get a taste of the old Las Vegas, you know the one from the Rat Pack in the rip roaring 1950s and 1960s, and make a stop at the Stratosphere. Here, you’re going to get the very best view of the city you can, at a great rate. And if you’re up for adventure, there are a number of rides on top of the hotel.

Ethel M’s

Ethel M's
If you love chocolate, skip the conventional store on the strip and head 11 miles south to the Ethel M Candy Factory Tour. Here, you can not only watch a real life chocolate factory in operation, but you can also grab a taste of a few samples as well. The other cool feature of Ethel M’s? They also have a cacti based botanical garden.

Bali Hai Golf Club

Did you know there was a golf course right off The Strip? Well, bring your clubs the next time you head to Las Vegas and book a tee time at the Bali Hai Golf Club. Once you step on to these perfectly manicured greens surrounded by lush tropical inspired landscape, you’ll forget you’re even in Vegas, until you spot a mega hotel peeking over the horizon.

Lion Habitat Ranch

The MGM brand is known for it’s use of lions, so it’s no surprise that visitors to the hotel would find a few lions on display. But, if you were ever wondering where those lions were actually trained and lived, then take a 15 minute ride to the Lion Habitat Ranch. Here you can tour the ranch or even pay extra to interact more with the lions (safely).

These are just a few of the things you can enjoy off The Strip in Las Vegas. So, the next time you’re there for a trip, be sure to take a half day and explore some of these spots.
