Downtown Orlando has become a hotspot for people relocating to warmer climates. The up and coming restaurant scene and new national soccer team are putting Orlando on the map. More and more people visiting Central Florida for the theme parks are venturing into Orlando during their visit.

One of downtown Orlando’s most well-known attractions is Lake Eola Park. Lake Eola Park is at the heart of Downtown Orlando and consists of a mile-wide lake. It is wrapped around by a sidewalk, making it a popular spot for locals and visitors to walk their dog, go for a bike ride or a jog, or simply just walk around and enjoy the outdoors.

Visiting the Lake

There are several other attractions for singles and families at Lake Eola Park. For example, visitors can rent a swan-shaped paddle boat and take it for a spin around the lake. There is occasionally music and entertainment performing at the Walk Disney Amphitheater.

Enjoy the art installations as you walk around the lake. Find the brochure with all the sculptures and locations on the City of Orlando website.

Farmer’s Market

Every Sunday, the Orlando Farmer’s Market opens up around Lake Eola. This pet-friendly market has been taking place for almost 30 years, and just gets better every year. You’ll find some of the area’s freshest produce, plus local crafts and goods. Come with an empty stomach, because you’ll be sure to find food trucks and tasty stands with samples.

Bring a blanket to relax on the grass and enjoy your newly purchased goods. On-street parking is tough to snag, so you may need to pay for the garage at S. Osceola Avenue and N. Eola Drive or take a long walk to get to the event.

Take a Break

Stop by the Relax Grill, an outdoor cafe with a large menu including Greek, stir fry, fish, vegetarian options, and more. Their competitive happy hour includes a Friday “all you care to drink” beer option. Also, check out the kitschy local favorites Aku Aku Tiki Bar and Stardust Lounge.

Located right in the middle of the lake is a beautiful fountain that lights up at night. Regardless of when you visit, you’re guaranteed to remember this part of Orlando, and even make sure to visit every time you’re in town.
