Florida is famous for several reasons. Visitors travel from all over the world to visit the Sunshine Shine, but not just because this happens to be where all of the world-famous theme parks are located, but because this is where some of the best beaches in the country are! Let’s be honest here, Florida isn’t known as the ‘Sunshine State’ for nothing!

Being a Florida native, I’ve had the luxury of visiting the beach almost every other weekend – and I can tell you I’ve been to a lot! If there’s one piece of knowledge I can offer, it’s that the east coast beaches and west coast beaches of Florida are completely different. However, each is unique and beautiful in their way.

When it comes down to it, all beaches in Florida are beautiful, but here are a few of the top-rated beaches.

New Smyrna Beach

Yes, New Smyrna Beach is the shark attack capital of the world, but don’t run away just yet! New Smyrna Beach is a quiet, sleepy little beach town only a short 20-minute drive south of Daytona Beach. Yes, there are shark bites, but not many, if any, fatalities. Don’t let that stop you from taking a dip in the water. New Smyrna is also one of the most famous surf towns in Florida. The best part is you can drive your car on the beach!

Clearwater Beach

Moving over to the West Coast of Florida is the beautiful Clearwater Beach with miles of soft, powdery sand beaches and plenty of beach bars around to grab a tropical cocktail while watching the sun sink into the horizon at sunset. You’ll find plenty of hotel accommodations and activities, such as the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, to enjoy while in town.

Siesta Key

Another West Coast beach, and probably the one that puts Florida on the map is Siesta Key. Siesta Key isn’t just as picturesque as it looks in magazines and on postcards. It’s even better than anything you can imagine. The sand is so white, the sky is so blue, the ocean is so calm and infinite, the palm trees sway in the slightest ocean breeze as the waves gently crash onto the shore. It is complete and utter bliss.

South Beach

If you can imagine the total opposite of Siesta Key, it’s probably South Beach but for all the right reasons. Imagine Las Vegas on a tropical beach. South Beach, Miami is a non-stop party place where you can get a tan, get a workout, find a date and grab some drinks. You can do whatever you want – anything goes in South Beach!

Naples

Naples Pier in Florida

Last, but certainly not least, is the beautiful beach in Naples. You can enjoy the evening shopping and dining on 5th Street, but be sure to take some time to walk down the pier or dip your feet in the water. It’s as beautiful and peaceful as you’d imagine any ideal tropical beach to be.
