In Japan, cherry blossoms symbolize a time of renewal and celebration. That’s because they only bloom for a short period of time. It’s common to see the Japanese spending time to admire the bloom with friends and family and even cooking with the petals.

Even though cherry blossoms have become synonymous with Japan, you don’t have to fly there to see them. In fact, Japan has gifted them to many different places and Washington, D.C is one of them.

While their bloom time varies, you can typically expect to see them pop up around late March to mid-April, and Washington Monument Grounds, Potomac Park, and Stanton Park are just a few places to enjoy them at.

New York

Central Park

New York is another lucky recipient of the Japanese cherry blossoms and you can find them at Central Park. If you get lost on your way to the Conservatory Garden inside, no worries. There will be splashes of bright colors any which way you turn: crabapple trees, heirloom roses, daffodils, tulips, lilacs, azaleas and more.

Albany

Just like Japan is known for cherry blossoms, The Netherlands is known for tulips, and Albany New York has strong Dutch roots. Which explains why every year, you can find over a hundred variety of gorgeous tulips at the annual Albany Tulip Festival. In addition to the flowers, you can enjoy live music performances, family activities, traditional street scrubbing, a Queen coronation and more.

Goldfield Mountain, Arizona

The Goldfield Mountain promises adventure and beauty. Hikers will be rewarded with wonderful patches of wildflowers along their journey. One thing worth mentioning is to be on the lookout for snakes. While things are warming up and flowers are beginning to bloom- snakes are also. So, watchful.

Savannah, Georgia

Springtime is the perfect time to visit Georgia and see all the flowers in bloom before the scorching summer temperatures start bubbling up.

There are dogwoods, camellias, and azaleas, just to name a few, as well as the frequently photographed green Spanish moss-draped live oaks lining the street inside Forsyth Park
