Watermelon PopsiclesThere’s one thing we know for sure – summer is not the time of year to be drinking hot chocolate. What we mean by this is that it’s summer, it’s hot and any hot treat (such as hot chocolate) is not the first thing most people will crave when it’s 100 degrees outside.

Now is the time of year when fun summer travel ideas come in handy when planning a beach getaway with family, or maybe just a day at the pool.  After a hot day, there’s not much that can satisfy your taste buds quite as much as a delicious, cool summer treat. There’s always ice cream and pink lemonade, but why not experiment a little and whip together something different and out of the ordinary?

Before school starts again, soak up the last few weeks of summer vacation by enjoying these three delicious summer treats to keep your whistle wet…and cold!

Watermelon Ice Pops

Watermelons are the perfect summer fruit. Why not spice up your watermelon eating experience in a fun way that everyone will enjoy by making watermelon ice pops? Making watermelon ice pops is simple and the result will leave you wanting more! All you have to have is a fresh, seedless watermelon, sugar, Popsicle sticks and a small plastic cup. Simply sprinkle a little sugar on the watermelon, stick a Popsicle stick in a piece of watermelon and place inside a plastic cup. You can even pour water or your choice juice in the cup to have a few different flavors frozen together. Once it’s frozen, remove from the cup and enjoy!

Frozen S’mores

Didn’t you know? S’mores aren’t just a campfire treat to enjoy. You can make it a cold dessert too for a hot summer day. Simply stack the s’more as you would with chocolate and graham cracker, but cover it with dipping chocolate. Once it’s dipped place in the freezer, and voila! You have yourself a frozen s’more sandwich that everyone will love.

Frozen Yogurt Covered Strawberries

Strawberries, like watermelon, are a refreshing summer treat that most people enjoy. Whether you’re spending the day alone or expecting company, add a little something to those strawberries that will keep guests coming back for more. Choose your preferred flavor yogurt, drip the strawberry in the yogurt, and let sit in freezer until the yogurt is frozen. This will create a nice frozen shell over the strawberry, adding an extra delicious flavor to cool you down from the summer heat.
