For almost 30 years, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, has been celebrating summer with the renowned Harbourfest. An estimated 60,000 visitors flock to Shelter Cove Harbour every year for the free event. This event features food, fun, and entertainment every night of the week from Memorial Day to Labor Day. In addition, there are family-friendly festivities take place mid-island at mile marker 8. Located across from the Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort. The festivities include everything from arts and crafts to carnival games. If your heart desires a culinary creation then look no further!
At this event, you can fulfill your food desires because choices range from snow cones to luxe seafood meals and soft pretzels. But the biggest draw is the live entertainment, with fan favorites returning year after year.
With his great propellered beanie, Shannon Tanner has become almost like a family member to some Harbourfest salwarts. For decades tourists and Hilton Head residents alike look forward to his excellent shows. The shows take place twice every night from Monday through Friday at 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm. In addition, his set is family oriented, and there is tons of opportunity for audience participation. Lastly, his high-energy set includes plenty of sing-alongs, kids’ favorites like Disney songs, and original ballads everyone can enjoy.
Also, on Thursday nights Tanner teams up with the Oyster Reefers, one of the nation’s best Jimmy Buffet tribute bands, to bring crowds Parrot Palooza. From June 15 through August 17, 2017, Shelter Cove Harbour will be turned into a tropical paradise with an island-inspired concert that begins at 7:00 pm.
Cappy the Clown, with her brightly colored hair and infectious attitude, is sure to keep the little ones in your crew enthralled as she does her thing each weeknight from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Most noteworthy, her unique brand of child-friendly entertainment includes everything from balloon animals to face painting and more. And, she’s been delighting little ones at HarbourFest for over 25 years!
Finally, few things say summer quite like fireworks, and every Tuesday night at 9:15 pm, attendees of HarbourFest are treated to a spectacular show. Weather permitting, from June 13 through August 15, 2017, fantastic fireworks light up the sky over Broad Creek and the Shelter Cove Marina, with an extra-special display on the Fourth of July. Also, if Tuesday night’s fun is rained out, it will be rescheduled for the following evening.
