Listening to music on the go. How do you do it?

The only time I really listen to music is when I’m on the go. I get so wrapped up in what I’m listening to that long gone are the days when I used to be able to listen to music while doing work. I’ve been known to start writing the lyrics of the song that I’m listening to. But jamming a tune or two while driving? That’s practically a must for me. Plus, I want my daughter to be a lover of music so I’m sure to always play some music as we head out and about. I come from the days of cassette players but the techie in me has to have music accessible in many different ways. If you’re a music lover like I am, you’ll enjoy some of these ways of how you can listen to music on the go.

Burn a CD

I remember when “burning a CD” was a big deal but it is becoming an ancient practice. While still a great option for many, getting a CD of your favorite tunes may be an option if you don’t have the AUX port in your car. My car doesn’t have that port so most of the music that I listen to comes from music that I’ve put on a CD. The downside to this is you may end up with dozens of CDs all throughout your car and those CD cases for cars aren’t exactly useful.

An app like Spotify or Pandora

If I need some inspiration and I’m not finding much in my own collection, I enjoy listening to music from apps like Spotify or Pandora. While both have free versions, their paid versions have many features that music lovers may want to dive into. Spotify allows you to listen to the entire albums of various artists. Pandora is great for creating stations. If you like to switch it up and listen to different artists of various genres, that’s the route to take.

Listen to music from AUX or phone

If you are lucky enough to have a car with an AUX port (or maybe your rental car has one…), you can simply attach your smartphone to a cord and boom…you’ve got music straight from your speakers. I envy those that can do this because you don’t have to worry about handling CDs while driving. The music plays with ease and when you’re ready to go and still want to listen, you can pop in some headphones and your music is still there.
