Take a trip to the largest city inside of Arkansas.

Mountain View, Arkansas is a place where you can enjoy nature, traditional folk music, and the biggest craft co-op around.

Mountains

Just like the name implies, Mountain View has a fantastic view of exactly that- the mountains! It’s a valley surrounded by the Blue Mountain Range of the Ozarks. (The Ozark is a pretty widespread region, stretching through Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas!)

If you love to get outside and into nature, there are many outdoor activities to participate in from water rafting and fly fishing to hiking and biking. Bikers, if you’re up for it, the Syllamo Mountain Bike Trail has over 50 miles of interconnecting trails for you to cover.

Another great place to explore is inside the Blanchard Springs Recreation Area. Guests can enjoy on-site camping, swimming, hunting, horseback riding, viewing wildlife and more.

“Folk Music Capital of the World”

Mountain View is the “Folk Music Capital of the World.” So, music is kind of a big deal here.

From November to April, visitors can gather ’round for original Southern mountain music from local musicians in different areas of the town. It’s been their tradition for many years. And it’s one they hope to continue! Which is why they have special music initiatives in place to teach their youth how to play various stringed instruments.

Music and More

Do you want nature, music and crafts all rolled into one spot? The Ozark Folk Center State Park has it covered.

In addition to outdoor recreational fun like Loco Ropes, visitors can listen to live music, walk through beautiful herb gardens, and watch artisans create a variety of handcrafted items like soaps, pottery, and jewelry.

Food

Grab a bite to eat in some of these favorite local spots.

For a delicious hand-tossed pizza head to Tommy’s Famous and share a “Fat-Boy” pie. If it’s southern-style comfort food just like your grandma used to make that you’re after, PJ’s Rainbow Cafe is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It’s a small, family-owned diner with cool ambiance (and chocolate gravy!) Seafood lovers, be sure to stop at Jojo’s Catfish Wharf inside Jack’s Fishing Resort for some of the best-fried fish, hushpuppies and homemade tartar sauce in the area.
