Deep in the heart of downtown San Francisco, high atop the historic Sir Francis Drake Hotel is Harry Denton’s Starlight Room. Inside this room, every Sunday, you’ll find amazing views – both inside and out. Sunday’s a Drag” is a unique Sunday Brunch served at two time intervals only with special reservations – and it fills up fast. Harry Denton and Donna Sachet have made this a popular stop for locals and tourists alike. This quirkly, up-front-and-impersonal variety show features fun and flirty drag queens. These “women” are more beautiful than most women I know. It’s baffling to watch. It’s a very interactive and entertaining show and certainly is a unique opportunity that goes against the normal humdrum Sunday brunch.

The lunch consists of a generous buffet with hot and cold items like eggs benedict, a made-to-order omelet station, and a prime rib carving station. The dessert table is full of sugar and molasses – just like the host, Donna Sachet. A full bar is also available for those who need some liquid courage to survive the show.

Sachet does a fantastic job ribbing the crowd with just enough balance of sass and crass. She can be very unforgiving, and woe to those who use their cell phones during the performance. Live performances include singing, dancing, and even a flirty strip tease with delightful divas like Cassandra Cass who is absolutely stunning. You have to see her to believe her. Artists rotate out weekly, but the show is always fun and humorous. If only there were a Surreal Housewives of San Francisco – then this would be the campy version. Next time you are in San Francisco, I hope you take the time to check it out. It’s well worth the “trip”.
