The U.S. is the perfect place for a road trip adventure. From the sandy beaches of the Florida Keys to the snow capped peaks of the Rockies, it’s all there, just a drive away.

And one of the best things you can do to ensure that your road trip is going to go smoothly is to pack what you need before you go. Most things can be bought along the way, but when planning out a road trip, make sure you keep these essential items right at the top of your packing list!

Chargers: We live in an electronic world now, and many people use their phones as their GPS system, but once that phone dies, you’re out of luck. So be sure you have at least one phone charger so you won’t have to worry about being stuck with a dead battery.

Sanitary Supplies: Let’s face it, when you gotta go, you gotta go, so at the start of any road trip, pack at least one roll of toilet paper and a package of hand wipes or sanitizer. These are going to also come in handy for those times when you are eating on the road, and need a quick clean up.

Folding Chairs: There are many spots across the country that offer an incredibly beautiful vista, so why not enjoy it? Pack a few small folding chairs in the trunk, that way you will be able to have a nice comfortable spot to sit while eating or during a break in the drive.

Mini Cooler: Toss a small cooler in the backseat before you head off and you will be very happy to have ice cold water or a fresh sandwich once you get hungry during a drive through the Arizona desert. Stop once a day or so and get a small amount of ice to keep things cool.

Rolls of Quarters: Having quarters handy can be your best friend while traveling. Not only are most laundromats only going to accept quarters, but a lot of cities require them for parking meters and toll roads. Having a couple of rolls will absolutely come in handy during your trip.
