Hot Springs Canyon TrailSeptember 22nd is the last official day of summer. Before we call it a summer, there are always a few last things to do before soaking up the last few days of sunshine, beach, BBQs and enjoying one of the best seasons of the year. However, closing out the summer doesn’t always mean traveling to the best destination or taking a cross-country road trip. Sometimes, it just means creating a checklist of ways to prepare for the fall. This can be small tasks or those you’ve had on your mind to do for a while.

Before you welcome the fall, be sure to check these things to do off your list!

Volunteer at the Organization of your Choice

If you’re an animal lover or have a soft spot for children in hospitals, take a few days or hours and contribute your time to making a different in some else’s life. You can choose between an animal shelter or working an event. Whichever you decide, you’ll find that the greatest reward was giving your time to a great cause.

Host or Attend a Bonfire

Work or school may be driving you insane, but one of the best ways to unwind in the summer is to make a bonfire with a bunch of your friends and family around. You can roast marshmallows, play games, and just kick back and relax with some of your favorite people gathered around a campfire.

Have a Barbecue

Doesn’t the smell of hotdogs and hamburgers on the grill remind you of a warm summer day? Why not enjoy it one last time before the fall rolls around. Invite your friends and family over for a good cookout. Be sure to bring tons of food, delicious sides and plenty of drinks. Whatever it is that has you stressed out, this is the best way to relieve it!

We know it’s been the summer for a few months now. You’ve probably put tons of miles and memories on your car, so why not take it to get checked out? It’s best to make sure all parts are working correctly, your tires are okay and your oil level is right. Better to be safe than sorry, right?

Summer Cleaning

Last but not least, although this may be the LEAST fun, summer cleaning! You read right, go through all your closets, draws, cabinets, etc. Throw old stuff out, scrub your bathroom and your kitchen and start fresh for the brand new season ahead!
