Every fourth of July, we celebrate independence with our very best red, white, and blue. We barbecue hot dogs, slice up apple pies and open some beers. (Rootbeers for the youngin’s!) Anything and everything that screams ‘Merica.

And nothing shouts it louder and prouder than fireworks! The much-anticipated whirls of color that pop and crackle in the night sky at the end of every celebration.

What would the 4th be without them? In this post are some of the best fireworks shows to catch. If not this year- then next!

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Why not kick off this list where it all began back in 1776? With the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia. After all, it was our Founding Father, John Adams who suggested that the day forever be celebrated with “pomp and parade,” games, bonfires, and illuminations.

Philadelphia hosts a 6-day long celebration. Wawa Welcome America is filled with free block parties, ice cream, concerts, outdoor movies, parades, fireworks and more.

Washington, D.C

How about a birthday bash at our nation’s capital? One with military reenactments, concerts, and even a birthday cake. Bring along a blanket or chair. And find yourself a comfy spot on the Capitol’s West Lawn to enjoy a free show by the National Symphony Orchestra just before the big sky finale.

New York, New York

You’ve likely heard of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade but have you heard of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks? Well, this year marks its 43rd annual show. Millions of visitors are expected to gather and watch the fireworks take off from the Brooklyn Bridge. Millions more will tune in on their televisions. This year’s guests include Jennifer Hudson, Maren Morris, Luke Bryan, and Brad Paisley.

Boston, Massachusetts

Boston, Massachusetts hosts one of the nation’s oldest and most popular Fourth of July celebrations: Boston Pops July 4th. It’s the place where the fight for our liberty began- and they haven’t forgotten it. All year long, they display a huge sense of pride and patriotism. But especially on the fourth.

This year, enjoy historical reenactments, a fighter jet military flyover, special musical guests (like Queen Latifah), and a spectacular firework display alongside the Charles River.

Orlando, Florida

If anyone knows how to put on one heck of a fireworks show- you know it’s Disney. Head over to Orlando, Florida and let freedom ring alongside Mickey. Independence tastes a little sweeter with a pineapple dole in your hand.

Warning: This is one of the busiest days inside the parks. But if you don’t mind the traffic, you won’t be disappointed with the view. Fireworks can be seen on July 3 or 4, inside of the Magic Kingdom and Epcot parks. If you can’t be there- find out how you can live stream the show.
