One of the best places to visit in Texas is the city of San Antonio. Unlike many of the cities in the area, it gives a great historical vibe, and has a really tourist friendly area called the River Walk that is a must see.

As the 2nd most populous city in Texas, San Antonio has over a million people living in the surrounding area, which means there is plenty to be found on any visit. Plus, great weather all year round, makes it a perfect stop-off point during any Texas themed road trip.

Here are some of the best attractions you don’t want to miss on your next visit to San Antonio.

The Riverwalk

There aren’t too many big American cities that have a river flowing through the middle of it. And, there certainly are not many cities that have been able to highlight the river like The Riverwalk has with a mixture of dining options, boat tours, and bars dotting the route. On a cool night, this makes the perfect spot to spend an evening wandering around and taking in the sites of San Antonio.

The Alamo

For those who are interested in history, The Alamo is one of those must see sites to visit on a trip to San Antonio. Built in 1744 by Spanish missionaries, The Alamo went through a number of different iterations as a church, a military barracks, a battle site and even farmland. Only a few blocks from The Riverwalk, The Alamo is located right downtown and offers tours and a little museum that visitors can walk through daily.

Enchanted Springs Ranch

Located just outside San Antonio, the Enchanted Springs Ranch brings you back in time to what life was like in the Texas of the Old West. The working ranch is just under 100 acres now and features plenty of cowboys and cowgirls who will be able to show you what life was like back in the day, including a couple of fun events like eating from the chuck wagon and a pistol twirling show!
